Rondo Torturado Esteso

This is a winter-time recording of the escalators of the subterranean transit hub called Rondo Kaponiera in Poznan. Once actually a round-about, now cross-roads near main train station with a view to the Zamek, it is a transit hub for numerous tram and bus lines. The platforms are accessible also from the underground circular passage-way hacked into the earth in the early 70's and recently renovated. There are 8 entrances, all of which have up and down escalators. These sounds derive from friction of the drive-chains that have begun to suffer from lack of lubrication. The recording sounds much more muted than the sonic reality which can be excruciating. I used the poster of a performance taking place in a gallery in the underground passage as an ironic detournement for my own track cover art.
