During our residency in the remote village of Belovo we were surprised and ultimately delighted to discover that in all this outrageous placidity and quiet that just up hill there was a meadow in this valley that turned out to be a very popular venue for Gypsy families to hold their elaborate wedding parties. These began with the arrival of the newlyweds in a train of motor-vehicles making their joyful full and horny noise, passing between church and homes of the host and the party grounds. (The very pink van in the photo delivered the 10 stacked speaker columns of quadraphonic sound system that would rock the valley for the next 8 hours.) Although my position, at the crest of one hill in the village, did not allow me to see the vehicles that circled the village on the lower roads, standing on the upper balcony on the front and back of the 2 story casita did allow me to make the recordings from different angles. In the beginning you can even hear a lawn "sprinkler" (a long hose punctured at intervals with holes that lay stretched the length of the narrow meridian park that divided one side of Orpheus Street from the other).
