about

Virtuous Circles refers in one sense to the Sufi's in Konya and the cycles of life and death. It also refers to the cycles of economy, enrichment and deprivation. The work is electro- acoustic, employing prepared guitar, electronic devices and field recordings. The field recordings stem from two distinct sources. The first: industrial and commercial transport noise from Western capitol cities. The second: the adhan, or Muslim call to prayer, recorded in various locations (Istanbul, Izmir, Cairo, Yogyakarta, Morocco, Kenya, Iraq) and from short wave radio broadcasts.

Originally released by Absurd Records (Athens), 2007. First edition issued as one 41 min track with photos (Mirea Guzman) and essay. This re-issue split into 3 tracks due to upload limitations on Bandcamp.
