This album is a digitized version of field recordings made 2003 and mixed down into analog reel-to reel tape and then bounced back to digital in 2004 and recently edited for this world premiere. The reel-to-reel tapes were part of an installation used for performance of Djalma Primordial Science. We went to meet with Tarahumara/Raramuri people in order to continue ongoing research into trance/dance/music traditions. Our approach was not strictly scientific nor ethnological. We went as people in order to meet people. The paradigm is not without precedent. And in the theatrical tradition stemming from Grotowsky, we had a certain impulse for Eugenio Barba's notion of "confrontation anthropology." You will find more detailed descriptions in the individual track windows.
